Présentation de l'éditeur

The rapid transformation of our landscapes over the last few decades raises a number of questions about the developing relations between societies and their environment and, consequently, about the new kinds of teaching programmes that might best address these changes. For many years, as heirs to a certain way of thinking about the world, we have tended to separate the teaching of landscape, urbanism and architecture. Arguably, this division needs to be reconsidered if we are to properly deal with the issues of today's environment.Drawing on the discussions between teachers and thinkers conducted within the framework of the European Asia-Link programme entitled « Development of an International Curriculum of Landscape Knowledge in Architecture and Urban Planning Education », and on the experiences of teachers of architecture, urban planning, landscape, human sciences and visual arts from Europe and Asia, this book sets out to answer these questions. It opens up avenues of enquiry and calls for a new way of looking at and thinking about the world of tomorrow, and for a new way of teaching the arts of building, in the Albertian sense of that term.
