Présentation de l'éditeur

Futurist manifestoesParis, 1900. F.T. Marinetti (1876-1944), a young Italian born in Alexandria, is astounded by what he has just discovered at the Exposition universelle. After years spent at the foot of the pyramids and others so close to the Dome of Milan, rich since his father left him a very comfortable fortune, his mind is taken over by the vision of the new world he can feel coming. Tired of the old stones of the cities of Europe, disappointed by the literary production of the time, still heavily symbolist in nature, he can feel in him the call of modernity. It will take eight years for this new spirit to crystallize in him, and on the night of a car accident from which he survives, he understands that a new world has just opened for him. One night in October 1908, he starts putting down the eleven points of the Manifesto of Foundation of Futurism on stationary of the Grand Hôtel of Paris. It is this prophetic text that he has published on the front page of Le Figaro on February 20, 1909. Some thirty more Futurist manifestoes will appear in the following years and will give birth to a new understanding of what modern art can be Most of those manifestoes, dropped from planes, from the windows of his car, mailed to every artist and journalist in the world, are collected in this book, for the first time, in their facsimile form. They re-introduce us to the first avant-garde of the 20th century, to the source of inspiration for Dada and Surrealism.
