Présentation de l'éditeur

This work contains the papers of the Eighth Conference on « Antitrust between EC law and national law », organised by the European Lawyers Union - Union des Avocats Européens (UAE) in co-operation with the Associazione italiana per la tutela della concorrenza, the Italian section of the Ligue Internationale du Droit de la concurrence (LIDC), which took place in Treviso on May 22 and 23, 2008.Some of the papers were substantially reviewed and updated by their Authors just before publication. The contributions collected in this work dealt with the major and current issues involving antitrust matters including analysis of the latest developments in the enforcement of EC antitrust law in the post-modernisation era as well as the increasing importance of private enforcement, in particular in the light of the recent publication by the European Commission of its White Paper on Damages actions for breach of EC antitrust law.Considerable reflection was also given to specific topics such as the interference between antitrust law and consumer protection law, the abuse of dominant position - highlighting the importance of economic analysis in evaluating this category of antitrust breach - and the role of class actions in antitrust cases. This publication also contains contributions concerning competition issues of specific sectors such as public procurement, aviation, energy, pharmaceuticals and telecommunications.
